LS Fest Drag Class Breakdown with Lonnie Grim

LS Fest Drag Class Breakdown with Lonnie Grim

Hello my name is Lonnie Grim, tech director
and competition director for Holley LS Fest 2017, which will be happening in September
8, 9, and 10, Beech Bend Park, Bowling Green, Kentucky. I want to talk to you today about a few classes,
as your looking online at LS Fest, and what class do I enter, where does my car fit? So what we’re going to do is we’re going to
go through those classes today to give you a better idea of where you may want to enter
the competition. First of all I need to get you to go to LSFest.com,
look it over, check out the drag packages. We’ll start with Rumble. Rumble is the quarter second increment index
class. If your car is a performance level quarter
mile between eleven flat and fifteen flat, rumble would be your class of choice. You’ll get to make multiple qualifying positions,
you’ll get multiple hits on the race track during test and tune, figure out where your
car best fits in those quarter second indexes, pick one, that will be what you race with
on Sunday during elimination, again rumble from eleven flat to fifteen flat, quarter
mile. Street King could be for you, again quarter
second increments, it goes from eight flat down to ten seventy five is the lowest index
in street king, again if you have a car that is a Friday night warrior or a Saturday only
weekend race car, or a hot street car and it runs from 10 seventy five down to eight
flat quarter mile quarter second indexes, street king would be the class that you would
choose. Late model heads up, few rules apply, car
must be late model enough to have come with eighteen inch rear wheel and tire, from that
point forward it does not matter what tire and wheel combination you bring on your late
model car, eighteen inch is the minimum wheel, 245 is the minimum tire but we don’t care
what combination of tire and wheel you put on your late model car, it will be heads up
competition, first one to the finish line wins. Real street at LS Fest, it’s a class that
has recently been moved over to eighth mile, it’s going to run in the four eighty range
so if you’ve got a car that fits the class rules of real street, and those rules can
be found at LSFest.com, look up real street. So for all you COPO Camaro owners, LS Fest
2017 also will include you with the COPO battle at the green. Qualifying this year for COPO will be based
on reaction time so everyone has a chance to win $250 from best reaction time for qualifying,
from that point forward, COPOs will race on a dialed in format with no scale and no fuel
check, paying some decent money to win and also some round money to help you make the
trip home, so if you’re a COPO owner with a CRC car or a true COPO, COPO battle at the
green at LS Fest is your class. There’s a few guys in the country that have
what we call the ultimate LS powered race car, that would be our drag radial class. Single turbo, twin turbo, lots of Nitrous
bottles, big pro chargers, big vortex, those cars run in the 4.20 range down in to the
fourteens. If the sun goes down and the weather gets
right we can see an LS power drag radial car go in the teens at LS Fest 2017, again if
your car fits drag radial found at LSFest.com, join us and bring it, let’s see how much you
got. Chevy performance stock. What is that? Well Chevrolet offers a crate race motor,
comes with seals all over it, you can’t tear it apart, you can’t touch it you can’t work
on it, theres rules to be found at LSFest.com, check out CPS, Chevy performance stock, it’s
heads up, they’re running in the 10.30 range over 3,000 pounds, you buy a factory race
motor from GM, this thing will run multiple seasons. It’s automatic, it’s stick shift trannies,
Chevy product only, Chevrolet performance stock will be your class. Also new to Holley LS Fest this year Bowling
Green is the Grudge test-n-tune, if you’ve looked over the classes and you’re not for
sure where you fit or don’t want the pressure of racing somebody in eliminations, I just
want to go and have a heck of a good time at LS Fest, grudge test-n-tune would be for
you. grudge test-n-tune participants will get access
to the race track starting at 9 AM on Friday. They will be included in the all day test-n-tune
which will happen up until 3 PM, after 3 PM the LS Fest event will start with qualifying
for all the listed classes but grudge test-n-tune will still be included in those run schedules
so you’ll still have ample runs Friday evening, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday up to
final eliminations, grudge test-n-tune will be your class. One of the big things that happens at LS Fest
every year is true street, true street’s another class you can come in and have a great time,
you get multiple runs down the race track durning the test-n-tune session which will
happen on Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM, there will be multiple places Friday and both Saturday
morning for additional runs down the race track and true street, true street will leave
the facility after a mandatory drivers meeting Saturday morning, we’ll leave the facility
and go on a thirty mile country side cruise, we’ll come back from that cruise and we’ll
load into the staging lanes where we’ll have a short cool down period before we start our
true street runs, don’t call them eliminations because what you’ll do in true street is you’ll
make three runs, we’re looking for the best average of those runs that you’ll make and
we give awards for closest to 9 flat all the way to closest to 15 flat without going under
as you’re average, get you a plaque, one hundred dollars and gas money to go home and a hell
of a good time at LS Fest. So make a plan September 8, 9, and 10, Holley
LS Fest Bowling Green, Kentucky, Beech Bend Raceway Park.
