How to Curl & Style Short Hair : Pinning the Short Hair Curls

Hi my name is Lauren and on behalf of Expert
Village I am here to discuss short curly locks with you. Another way that you can achieve
a more of a curly look is to do pin curls. You would do this when your hair is wet. It
is more or less setting your hair. This is just to give you different options from over-using
your thermal styling tools. What you would do is grab sections of your hair, little baby
sections, hold them out, give a little bit of spray. While your hair is wet you can use
a little bit of a setting lotion. They sell them in every beauty supply store and they
also sell them in any drug store. You are going to bring the hair down. You are going
to curl your ends. Now the difference between a barrel curl and a pin curl is that the barrel
curl is going under or over. Your pin curl is actually looking to form that S wave. So
you are going to pull it flush down against your head and you are going to roll it into
the hair. So your first roll should go like that. The tighter you roll your pin curl,
the tighter it is going to be. So you will set it, you will bring it forward, and then
you can use either a bobby pin or a curler pin in order to keep it in place. It is a
little bit easier than sleeping on curling rods or using the curling iron every single
day because some people like to enjoy having that curl. Also the larger the diameter of
section you take, the bigger the curl is going to be. They will fall flush against your head.
This is what your curler rod would look like or your duck clip. I personally go for your
bobby pins just because your bobby pins are a little easier to sleep on. So again roll
it forward, gather the points at the ends, create that little circle and then simply
follow your fingers and allow it just to roll up and towards the scalp. This is another
way that you can create the curly look without using thermal styling tools every time you
want to do your hair curly.
