Bringing back bowling

Bringing back bowling

BEN POLZIN: A lot of the time I hear pople saying bowling is just a fun sport that’s a great social activity but we don’t get kind of the recognition as a competitive
sport and so for us to be a sports club actually go compete for the school and
we show that you know our school pride would be great for us. [SCOTT DUNNUM] The UWL bowling team has a long history five national championships. 1967, 68, 69,
75 and 85 they were national champions and the team disbanded 2007 due to the lack of
interest and so we got enough interest going on so we bring it back and show
that the school still has bowling presence. it’s great to come back I bowled for the UWL team back in the late eighties when I was
going to school there. A lot of these kids up coached already in junior league. I was a coach for them in high school at La Crosse Central. A lot of us are from the lacrosse area but then there are couple that came in from out of town and we just kind accept them as if you’re another bowler, you’re one of our friends. There is
the Midwest coolegiate bowling conference which is believe 18 teams and so we were just inducted into that and so there is a lot of competition
there by them so it’s it’s easy for us a lot of competition around the midwest area that we can go to. That’s what we want to do. Get back into the Collegiate Conference, do well there reestablish the program on a national
level And bring it back to its former, where
deserves to be. It’s not just about the competition like to be able to increase
the scale level and interest of bowling around the lacrosse area
