Bo Staff Attack Techniques : Bo Staff One-Handed Spin

Okay, now that we’ve covered our two-handed
ones, you get that nice and comfortable, we’re going to go to a one-handed. Which means,
literally, you don’t need the left hand to guide, or the right hand, alternating, whichever
hand you are. And if, once you get into spins, you should be able to do them, and be dexterously,
just something to think about. So, we’re going to start off with our right hand, like we
separated into thirds, and our right hand on. And you’re going to do the same motion.
Right hand over, and down. And do the same thing. Notice my motion is nice and big when
I start, it covers a lot of space. And what I’m going to do is, when I get more comfortable,
I’m going to shorten that distance up, and put a lot more of the motion into the bottom
of my elbow, and my wrist; my wrist is torquing around. But I want to keep this as close as
I can. See how close this comes to my body here. Only give it a few inches, nice and
tight to each side, and you just want to speed that up and work on that. Same thing from
the side here. we start nice and big, nice and wide. And then we kind of tighten it up
as we get more comfortable, and we add speed, and we come here. And that’s our one handed,
figure 8.
