Allen Park bowling alley hosts International Youth Championships

the bowling scene here in Metro Detroit one of the best anywhere of course so no surprise a community like Allen Park would be chosen for one of the sport’s biggest events that’s right Jamie Edmonds is in Allen Park where young bowlers from all over the world are trying to make a name for themselves there are 37 countries represented here in the world bowling Youth Championships which makes for some language barriers but everyone here understands strikes and fair it feels like an international soccer match abroad in reality we’re at the Thunder ball lanes in Allen Park more than 200 athletes are in town for the world bowling youth championships and it’s a very big deal two years so you have to be 21 or under and it’s a very short window for some of these athletes many teams traveled from far and wide but none farther than perhaps team Australia there are competitions for girls and boys singles and doubles a team competition and a masters competition once you get into it you realize how popular it is but from an outsider it may just seem like a recreational sport it’s not it’s very competitive it’s about winning yes but the competition is friendly most athletes tell me they’re enjoying their time outside especially last night when 100 of them went to the Tigers game I actually thought it was a nice bonding experience because we used that was 17 Australia and we had a lot of fun so we don’t have a faceful at her I didn’t understand how it worked but it was good to watch when it’s all said and done some of these teams will have been here for more than two weeks and the team from Taiwan tells me they love Detroit and they find the people very friendly in Alan Park team yet Minh vocal for that’s great welcome to tell folks enjoy their time here that’s great
