3 Generation Rebuild – 1966 Ford Fairlane LS Engine Swap – Holley LS Fest

You know I think I would classify myself as
a Chevy person, but looking back on it, I’ve had more Fords than Chevys, but all my Fords
that I’ve had have had Chevy engines in them. Brian here at Holley LS Fest in Bowling Green,
Kentucky, having a blast. I’ve been here a couple of times with a few
of my friends, got the car down, enjoying the weather, enjoying the time, it’s a great
time, it’s a blast. We actually had a Ford power plant ready to
go and I just couldn’t do it. I had to put the LS in it, I just love how
they drive, how they handle the power that they make. We just took it out for it’s first pass, we
went 11.85 at 114 with it and at 80 miles per hour we’re at 2200 RPM getting 22 miles
to the gallon with it and that’s what it’s about, driving and having fun. We drove it down it down from Chicago. What is that, like 600 miles? Yes and three-quarters of it was in a pouring
rainstorm. We wanted something to have fun with, drive
it, and we don’t want a trailer queen, we don’t want a garage princess, wherever we
are going, we take the car. Go to watch my son play baseball, take the
car. All my life we’ve been doing cars and having
fun tinkering, rebuilding, painting. You know my dad got me into cars and I’m pretty
sure I’ve hooked my son. My dad bought the car originally and wanted
to restore it and my son and I got involved with it and so it was a three-generational
rebuild and this is what we came up with. My son picked the colors, picket the wheels,
my dad picked the car, and I picked the driveline. It’s been a good time, the three of us bonding,
having fun, going to the track, having a good time. Unfortunately, my dad couldn’t make it this
week and my son, this is his first week of college. It took us about 6 years, it wasn’t something
we could work on all the time. Quarters are new, floorboards are new, there
isn’t anything on it that hasn’t been new. We got rid of the strut towers and put Mustang
two front suspension on it, disk breaks all around, redid the interior. It has 04′ BMW seats so they are 8-way power
adjustable, put some vintage air in it so we can drive it and have a good time. We’re hoping that next year we want to hit
LS Fest West and LS Fest East and drive it all over to both of them and you know to anybody
that’s out there, if you haven’t come down to Holley LS Fest, come on down, it’s a riot,
everybody’s great, everybody’s helping everybody and having a lot of fun.
